Outstanding Food Producer Awards 2024
19 March 2024

We are pleased to let everyone know that we entered our Chocolate Trout and Passionfruit Bon Bon into the Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards 2024.  We are delighted to advise we have been awarded a GOLD MEDAL for the Chocolate Trout and a BRONZE MEDAL for our Passionfruit Bon Bon.  

The Judges comments were very favourable in particular for the Chocolate Trout; they said “Enticing from the moment the judges saw it!   Excellent, developed chocolate flavours. Great attention to detail with a nice surprise from the inclusion."

We are also pleased to advise that two of the three bars that we produce for KÅŒKÅŒ Chocolate, also received awards this year!  A SILVER medal for the Manuka Honey & Raspberry (in dark chocolate) and a BRONZE medal for the Karengo & Macadamia (in milk chocolate).

NZ Chocolate Awards 2022

Every two years the New Zealand Chocolate Awards are held. In 2020 we were proud to have received awards for our Calamansi and Layered Coconut Bon Bons.  This year, we submitted for judging our Pineapple Ginger and Coffee Caramel Bon Bons.  We are very proud again to announce that we were awarded a SILVER MEDAL for the Pineapple Ginger Bon Bon and a BRONZE MEDAL for the Coffee Caramel Bon Bon.

The judges remarked on our Pineapple Ginger bon bon:

"Beautiful chocolate with a lovely texture."
 

And judges said about our Coffee Caramel bon bon:
"Looked beautiful and had good textured components.
"

Collaboration with KÅŒKÅŒ Chocolate​ 
July 2022​

We are very excited to announce that we have a new project; a collaborative production of chocolate bars with KÅŒKÅŒ Chocolate who are based in Rotorua. Hoete Mitai and Adrienne Whitewood, the business owner’s ethos is about taking Aotearoa chocolate and gifts to the world.  They are passionate about using chocolate as a carrier to enhance indigenous Aotearoa ingredients.  KÅŒKÅŒ (meaning “Cocoa” in Te Reo Maori) was established in 2020 - www.kokochocolate.nz

There are currently 3 unique flavours of the 100g chocolate bars - Karengo and Macadamia cast in Milk Chocolate; Kawakawa and Matcha cast in White Chocolate and Manuka Honey and Raspberry cast in Dark Chocolate.  These are also now available in our Online Shop.

Coffee Caramel added to bonbon range​

We have added the Coffee Caramel bonbon to our range of 12 chocolates.  Layered coffee ganache and salted caramel enrobed in milk chocolate.

​

This flavour is also available in the Wave Bar range.

We submitted two bonbons from our current range into the New Zealand Chocolate Awards 2020.

​

On 31st March, winners were announced and we were so proud to receive a GOLD AWARD for our Calamansi bon bon and a BRONZE AWARD for our Layered Coconut bon bon.

​

The judges commented on our Calamansi bon bon:

"Very well presented artistic design.  Aroma and flavour match perfectly and colour reflects the flavour.  Well done on a great bonbon!"

​

We are consistently experimenting with new colours and new flavours to add to our range.

Melissa Coppel's Bon Bon Master Class

Sande returned from Melbourne after having attended the Melissa's Bon Bon Master Class, run by Melissa Coppel Chocolate and Pastry School Las Vegas.  She also caught up with master chocolatier, Paul Kennedy of Savour Chocolate and Patisserie School, one of the chocolatiers that Paul and Sande trained under.

Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School

June 2019

 

Sande returned to the Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School, Australia (where both Paul and Sande trained) to visit with Kirsten Tibballs, the Director of the school and internationally recognised chocolatier and judge.

 

Sande went to catch up on the latest trends and to purchase new moulds to expand on the chocolate range.

You may recognise Kirsten from the TV series “The Chocolate Queen” and she also sets the chocolate challenges on the popular TV programme "Australia Master Chef".
